On Thursday night, The Mayor’s Latino Advisory Committee sponsored a Latino community meeting with Mayor Jeremy Stutsman and Police Chief Jose Miller at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
This Spanish-language event was aimed at reducing anxiety and fear among Latinos, who have been the targets of the current presidential administration. The Mayor and Chief Miller assured immigrants that they are welcome in Goshen, and that local police officers are not targeting them.
The meeting had a great turn out, with well over 150 participants, including local leaders, pastors and organizational directors among the general public. There was strong interest in holding similar events in the future.
